Maybe its the belief that every thing contains its opposite - so every closed bar must also contain an open one. ;-)
One of my favourite notices was at a local nursing home which proclaimed 'Short stays welcome'.

Maybe they meant to say it is "closed closed", you know, not closed because it is their day off, but closed closed. Am I making myself clear? ;-)
