Algerian trip...

I'm back!
I went to visit my father, my sisters and their families.
The weather ranged from boiling hot afternoons to cool evenings, dusty mornings and torrential rains.
As usual, the seasonal produce was on show. I was a few days too early for my sister's apricots but there were enough fruits to make up for them. The strawberries were delicious and the dates absolutely luscious.

A visit to one of Algiers oldest fish restaurants, Sauveur (a true Saviour!) was an evening to remember. Fish, fish and fish... Gorgeous.

Minted tea and roasted nuts, overlooking the Med from the south.

Fishermen enjoying a great sunset...

Boy things have changed since I was there in 1986. The restaurants didn't have anything to serve us except prawns. I even gave the waiter a spare packet of paracetamol I was carrying as the local pharmacies hadn't had any for years. Glad to see things are looking up.

Thanks, Akela. You know me, I never go anywhere without my camera. Except that I've left it for my BIL.

Yum, indeed, Caro.

Daphne, the prawns were delicious.;o)
And things are definitely looking up. There are now two cash dispensers in Algiers!!!

Val, you're welcome. Yes, it could be a ral paradise...

Oui, ce sont de nèfles. It's very rare to see them in the UK.
The prawns were truly delicious and so was the whiting (Merlan) with dersa! I'm sure you'll have a great time when you got in the autumn.

Bienvenue, Mima!
C'était le marché de Reghaia et je suis d'accord avec toi en ce qui concerne les couleurs,etc...
Mes soeurs m'ont vraiment régalé avec leur cuisine.
Je les ai repayées en leur faisant un bon poulet au curry.

Thanks, Pat. I took loads.
